I have practiced law on Nantucket since 1981. After graduating from Suffolk University Law School in 1980, I worked as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington.
In 1981, my wife Barbara and I moved from Virginia to Nantucket and I joined my current law partner, Edward Foley Vaughan, to practice law on Nantucket. My law practice is concentrated on real estate, land use, and municipal permitting matters. I have served as Chairman of the Nantucket Board of Zoning Appeals and as President of the Nantucket Bar Association. I am also a Massachusetts Land Court Title Examiner and a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Conveyancer’s Association.
I have served as a Trustee of the Nantucket Cottage Hospital, the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club, am currently a Trustee of Fairwinds, Nantucket’s Counseling Center, and General Counsel and Clerk of the Sankaty Head Golf Club. I am an avid golfer and fisherman.
